Without hesitation, she sprang into action, racing downstairs to check on her daughter Amiri, who was still upstairs. 'She ran back upstairs to grab Amiri,' recalls Nina Keith, Miracle's mother, 'but she had to run through the fire and smoke and all the heat to even get out.'
A Neighbor's Quick Thinking
Meanwhile, next-door neighbor Harmony was awoken by the smell of smoke. She checked the apartment and found the doorknob hot, signaling that the fire had already spread. As she tried to enter, she saw Miracle forcing open the door while carrying Amiri and a visiting friend, Morgan, who had also been inside at the time.
A Community's Outpouring of Support
The family has received an outpouring of support from their community, with over $58,000 raised through a GoFundMe campaign and donations collected through their church. 'We are so proud of her for having the courage and determination to do that,' says Nina Keith. 'They said a lot of people wouldn't have done that.'

Amiri suffered second-degree burns to her hands, feet, arms, and legs, but has since been released from ICU burn care in Augusta and is recovering. Miracle, on the other hand, sustained severe burns along with lung damage and remains under medical care as doctors work to help her breathe without assistance.
